Remains Found In May Linked To Man Missing Since 2002

The skeletal remains found near Waurika Highway have been identified as the remains of a man who hasn't been seen since 2002.

Wichita Falls Police say the remains of William E. McConnell Jr. were identified through an autopsy performed by the Tarrant County Coroner. He has been missing for nine years. Witnesses told police he had walked away from a nearby business in the Spring of 2002 and was never heard from again.

The remains were spotted by a passerby exploring a wooded area near a railroad track on May 14th, 2011. The body was found beneath the shade of a tree. Reports indicate McConnell suffered from several medical conditions prior to his death.

Police say there were no signs of foul play in this case. To read the full story on when the remains were located, we've been covering it from the beginning. For more, just click here.
