Two Men Charged For Having Meth In A Drug Free Zone

Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Unit agents bust two men for having methamphetamine in a drug free zone.

Agents went to a residence in the 1700 block of Hayes on May 2nd. The residence is within 1000 feet of Crockett Elementary School.

Agents approached John Surles, 43, and found a baggie containing meth in his shirt pocket. Agents had an active felony warrant for Surles.

Agents went to the residence and found Billy Crawford Jr. Trying to leave through another door. Crawford went back inside the house with agents following.

One agent saw Crawford trying to throw items in the toilet. Crawford was taken into custody and searched. Agents found a small baggies containing meth in his jacket pocket.

The agents found several items commonly used in the manufacture of meth inside the residence.

Surles and Crawford are both charged with Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance in a Drug Free Zone.
