Blood Drive Honors Texoma Toddler

A year ago a Texoma toddler died after being bitten twice by a snake.  Twenty-three-month old Peyton Hood was honored by the River Bend Nature Center with a butterfly room and on Saturday they held a blood drive.

The Red Cross, River Bend Nature Center, and her family sponsored the drive. Peyton was bitten by a rattlesnake at Possum Kingdom and died from her wounds and earlier this summer River Bend created an intimate butterfly room to remember her.

"Without that blood she wouldn't even maybe had a chance and I know that so many families don't have to lose their child if people would just give blood," said Kammy Hood, Peyton's mother.  The family hopes they get enough blood to help individuals in need.
