Lightning Causes 2nd Blaze Close To Clay County Fire

A fire broke out early Tuesday morning just 5 miles from Monday's blaze in Clay County.

The Emergency Management Coordinator tells Newschannel 6 the flames, unrelated to Monday's fire, were started by a lightning strike early this morning around 2 AM. Three departments assisted in the fire fight. Less than 10 acres were also left blackened by the fire.

Flames also burned around 250 acres in a fast moving fire that broke out around 3:00pm Monday.

One structure was lost as fire fighters were unable to save an oil facility building.

Fire crews from Joy, Bluegrove, Bellevue, Henrietta, Vashti, Lake Arrowhead, Windthorst, Scotland, Lakeside City and Bowman all battled that fire.

The Archer County "STRIKE" team along with two "STRIKE" teams from the Texas Forest Service also came into help get the fire out.

There is not a known cause and an investigation is underway to determine what started the fire.
