Three WF Football Players Earn Pre-Season Honors

Three football players from Wichita Falls earned pre-season honors from on Wednesday.

Rider placekicker Cal Johnson was named first-team All-Region I Team Texas, while Rider defensive end and Wichita Falls High School wide receiver Diondre Singleton were named to the second team.

District 4-4A power Denton Ryan had five players honored, four of them on the first team, including Region I-4A Defensive MVP Mario Edwards. The Florida State commit is considered by many scouting services to be the #1 recruit in the country.

Three players from Lake Dallas were named first-team all-region, while Little Elm had one first-teamer and The Colony had three second-teamers.

Rider Picked #2 in District; WFHS Last

The same website also released district-by-district projections, and projected Rider to finish second in District 4-4A behind Denton Ryan.

They projected Lake Dallas the The Colony to take the Division-II playoff spots in the district, while they joined the chorus of observers predicting Wichita Falls High School to finish last.

Regionally, Rider is forecasted #5 in Region I-4A, with Ryan #2 behind Aledo.
