Windthorst Ranked #3 in AP Poll; Munday #10

The Windthorst Trojans were ranked #3 in Class A by the Associated Press preseason high school poll, released Thursday.

Windthorst received 166 votes in the 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 format.

The Munday Moguls also made the top ten, coming in at #10 with 50 votes.

The poll combines Division I and II into one list of teams, and Windthorst is the highest-ranked Division II team on the list, behind only Canadian and Granado.

The Trojans received 5 out of 25 first-place votes, as many as #1 Canadian received. Granado came in second despite 11 first-place votes.

Other Texoma teams receiving votes included Holliday, who got 12 votes in Class 2A, 15th-most, and Graham, who got one vote in Class 3A, tied with Kennedale for 18th.

In 4A, Denton Ryan is ranked #2 in the pre-season, behind only Aledo. The Bearcats took 24 first-place votes, with the Raiders taking the other.

Fellow 4-4A member Lake Dallas received nine votes.

The season kicks off August 25th, with Holliday traveling to Windthorst and Munday facing Stamford at Abilene's Shotwell Stadium.
