Large Grass Fire In Wichita Falls

Fire is now 90% contained. It is estimated about 25 acres burned. Crews are now working on hot spots and keeping an eye on the area for any flare ups.

 

Update at 7:15pm

Here is the latest information on a grass fire near the Tanglewood Edition in Wichita Falls. WFPD officials tell us that 20 homes were evacuated. More than 100 homes were threatened. One volunteer firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion. Texas Forest Service Task Force 27 came to help with bulldozers and firefighters.

 

A Texas Forest Service Helicopter is dumping water on the grass fire that is burning off of Seymour Highway near the Tanglewood Edition. Some residents have been evacuated and are being sent to the Red Cross for help. If you have been evacuated you can go to the Red Cross on 5th Street or if you can no longer stand the heat from a loss of electricity the Red Cross can help. No structures have been lost but one home has suffered some damage to it's siding. We are still on the scene and will get you more information as soon as we have it.
