Remains Of Boy Believed To Be Found After Fire

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (AP) - San Antonio firefighters believe they have found the remains of a 6-year-old boy following a massive apartment fire.

Fire Chief Charles Hood said Saturday that the medical examiner's office must still confirm the identification, but said they had "no reason" to think it was anyone other than Rudy Alejos. A day earlier, officials had called off the search for the body.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that fire Tuesday ripped through two buildings and destroyed at least 54 units. Hood says firefighters found the boys' remains in a breezeway after getting new information from his mother, who was more capable of answering questions Saturday.

The boy's great-aunt, Bertha Guzman, says the boy's mother was hospitalized with burns to her arms, face and head.
