UPDATE: Amon G Carter Lake Fire Started By A Drilling Rig Engine

The Amon G Carter Lake wildfire was started by a drilling engine.

Montague County Sheriff says the engine caught fire at a work site.

The sheriff says there were some explosives, not dynamite, in the truck.

They said they had to let the rig burn.

Bowie Fire Department, Clay County, Wise County fire departments, and the Texas Forest Service's air strike all assisted in putting the blaze out.

Fire officials say no structures were damaged.

The fire started about Thursday, 1 p.m. off Pickett Run Road. The fire burned an estimated 1,150 acres.

Crews say the fire raged through a heavily wooded area.
