WF City Councilors Approved Several Items On Their Agenda

Wichita Falls city councilors met Tuesday morning and discussed several items on their agenda.
Councilors will hold a public hearing on the 2011-2012 preliminary budget and adopt the budget on September 20th.

A public hearing is expected to be held discussing the 2011 Wichita Falls transit system. The hearing is for capital, planning, and operating assistance.

Councilors also approved a public transit route that will go to and from Midwestern State University. The added route will extend service until 10 p-m for students and will also be open for MSU employees.

There's new progress on a hiking and biking trail in Wichita Falls. A bid was awarded for the Seymour Highway/ Barnett hike and bike trail. Luz Le-ma construction will be tackling the trail.
It's estimated to cost more than one million dollars.

Wichita Falls city leaders also approved funds concerning phase two of the runway reconstruction project at the Wichita Falls Municipal Airport. The city was awarded $5.5 million from the FAA. The runway work will start after the Sheppard Air Force Base air show in October.
Councilors also accepted just over $50,000 in grant money to help law enforcement stop crime.
The money will be used for software by Wichita Falls police and the Wichita County Sheriff's Office. The software will help accurately track areas that are hard hit by crime. It will help officers to try and prevent crime sprees. The software will also allow citizens to see where crime rates are the highest in the city and county.
