Wildcats Drop Exhibition Game to Tornado

The Wichita Falls Wildcats coaching debut of Paul Baxter was spoiled by their in-state rivals the Texas Tornado in a 5-1 exhibition loss at Kay Yeager Coliseum.

Texas scored on a power play late in the first period to go up 1-0, then added four more goals in the third period, including a hat trick from Jack Prince.

In between Matt Purmal got on the board for the Wildcats, set up by Tyler Potts and Chris Pontello.

Tyler Green stopped 20 of 25 shots in net for Wichita Falls.

The regular season begins at the NAHL Showcase Tournament in Blaine, Minnesota, as the Wildcats look to defend their title from last season. The first game is Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.

The Wildcats will play their regular-season home opener Friday, September 23 at 7:05 p.m. against Fairbanks.
