Wildcats Drop to 0-2 with Loss to Kenai River

The Wichita Falls Wildcats are still in search of their first win of the season after losing 2-1 to the Kenai River Brown Bears Thursday in the NAHL SHowcase Tournament in Blaine, MN.

Making the loss extra-tough was the fact that the game-winning goal was scored for the Brown Bears (3-1) by former Wildcat Keil Zornow, traded away just a week ago.

Tyler Green stopped 32 of 34 shots for the Wildcats (0-2), and Tanner Fahlstedt scored a power play goal with assists from Dennis Kravchenko and Bradley Shumway, but it was not enough.

The Wildcats allowed an early first-period goal for the second straight game, letting Kenai River's Austin Sture light the lamp just 2:24 into the game, off assists from Austin Rehwinkel and Chris Nuth.

Fahlstedt equalized at 16:09 of the first, but Zornow put the Brown Bears ahead to stay at 14:03 of the second.

The Wildcats face Minot (ND) Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m.
