Fowler Elementary Evacuated for Fire Call

Newschannel 6 is has learned the cause of a fire call that led to an evacuation and early release at Fowler Elementary School.

PIO for the Wichita Falls Independent School District, Renae Murphy tells Newschannel 6 an AC unit overheated. That caused other units to overheat and shut down electricity. The school was safely evacuated as firefighters were called to investigate.

Students are in early release. Parents can pick up kids between now and regular time of 3:30 p.m. in gym area. Kids are allowed to stay in the gym until regular release time if parents can't pick them up. 

Maintenance crews and the fire department made sure the building was safe before WFISD officials decided Fowler students would return as normal Monday.
