Things at Vernon College's Wichita Falls campus have started to get a little tight.
"We don't have much space and hallways are pretty crowded right now," says a student.
With an increase in enrollment of 29% from fall 2008 to fall 2010, 66% of that growth was at the Wichita Falls campus, giving school leaders a big reason to expand.
"The growth has been crazy here and all the classes were full, you couldn't schedule enough classes. We've got some facilities that are three people in one office," says Dr. Dusty Johnson, Vernon College President.
The former Graham Central Station night club and the Carmike Cinema are connected to the existing building and have been owned by the school since 2004. With the businesses now vacant, Vernon College will use both facilities to grow along with their student body.
Johnson says, "We needed to expand our operations to meet that need of students."
The news of renovation and expansion has students excited about the opportunities that will come along with it.
"It's beneficial for everyone, its beneficial for the school, its beneficial for the community. I'm excited about it honestly I believe that feedback from everybody is going to be extremely positive," students say.
President Johnson says it's a big undertaking, but the opportunities it will create for students is what's important.
"It's going to be a tremendous boost for our students."
