There is a shake up in the Wichita County Republican Party.
Newschannel 6 has learned through Wichita County Republican Party officials that Chairman Tom McCorkill has stepped down.
The announcement came Thursday, just 10 days after a somewhat heated discussion concerning an unpaid bill owed to Wichita County.
At that time Newschannel 6 asked McCorkill if he would resign after board members issued two votes of no confidence. This is what he told us when we asked if he will resign.
"I am not going to comment on that," said McCorkill. We asked him why he would not comment and he said, "I have no need to."
Wichita County Republican Party Vice Chairman Danny Breegle told us that the Vice President of the party will step in as Acting Chairman and then the Executive Council will make a decision as to how to proceed with the filling the vacancy.
Newschannel 6 has been covering this story since McCorkill came under fire for making the late payment to the Wichita County. You can see our complete coverage of that story by clicking here. We will continue to follow this story for you. Stay with Newschannel 6.
