On Monday voters in the Petrolia Independent School District shot down a proposed property tax hike. The final tally was 169 "For" and 206 "Against". The proposal was for a $0.13 tax hike. A school district official told Newschannel 6 the hike was to make up for state budget cuts. This is the fourth straight year voters have shot down a proposed Petrolia ISD tax hike proposal.
