Texoma Teams in State Rankings

Several Texoma teams are receiving mention in various state polls.

The Throckmorton Greyhounds didn't even have to play a game in Week 5 in order to retake the #1 spot in the SixManFootball.com poll. With #3 Ira knocking off previously-unbeaten #1 Rankin, the 'Hounds retook the top spot in their bye week.

There was a lot of movement in the Six-Man game.

After Crowell's win over then-second ranked Motley County, they're now up to #7 in 6M Division I.

Newcastle stays at #5 in Division II after their bye week.

In TAPPS Six-Man, the Notre Dame Knights jumped two spots to #7 after beating Lubbock Christ the King on Friday night.

In Eleven-Man, Windthorst moved up one more spot to #7 in the AP Poll after their win at Henrietta, while Munday picked up three new votes after dismantling Quanah at home 63-0 Friday night.

A couple of Texoma teams will be taking on ranked teams this weekend, as well: Rider hosts #2 Denton Ryan for first place in District 4-4A in our Dr Pepper Game of the Week, and Petrolia hosts #4 Muenster in District 5-A Division I action.

Critics say the NFL's decision to force players to stand during the national anthem if on the field say the policy prioritizes the league's mainstream appeal over athletes.
