Farmers and ranchers having a hard time getting hay to feed their horses are getting much needed help.
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is donating $250,000 to 24 Equine Welfare Organizations and Animal Control Agencies in Texas and Oklahoma.
Animal Angels in Jacksboro is one of the recipients and are set to see who needs what.
"If they already have some hay in store for them and somebody else has nothing, you know obviously we are going to have to judge that by who is in the most need," said Animal Angels Vice President of Operations Elizabeth Kelly.
The program is of great need as hay prices has skyrocketed and demand has grown because of the dry summer and the drought.
