Wichita Falls ISD Board Meeting To Discuss Improvement Plans

Wichita Falls ISD held a board meeting Monday evening to discuss school improvement plans for Burgess and Washington Jackson Elementary Schools.

School officials report the improvement plans are a state requirement for schools that are under the state rating school improvement plan. There will not be anything drastic like year-round or 12-hour school days. The board also took a look at how to approach curriculum along with their plan on modifying schedules.

Wichita Falls ISD superintendent Dr. George Kazanas spoke at the board meeting.

"Additional resources, our CIS programs at, for example Crockett, and Southern Hills, that we were not able to expand that type of model to some of these schools that are high needs, so we're glad that YMCA is able to expand their program too."

The WFISD also held a public hearing Monday night to discuss Wichita Falls ISD earning "Above Standard Achievement" rating under the Texas' Schools FIRST financial accountability rating system.
