$15,000 Donation to Camp Fire USA

Camp Fire USA North Texas Council for Special Services Program received a $15,000 donation Tuesday afternoon.

The donation is coming from the Alcoa Foundation.

The Special Services program began in 1976 with one staff member who transported children from one school in her own vehicle to Harrell Park where they had their Camp Fire meetings.

Over the last 25 years, the program has grown from that one group to over 1,000 children. Those kids are transported from 17 schools, in 10 vans, driven by 10 staff members to Harrell Park for their after-school program.
