Fund Drives Supports Wichita Falls Firefighters

All day Saturday firefighters took off their helmets for a special cause. A relief fund drive held at Harvest Drug and Gift off Kell allowed drivers and customers to donate money to departments. It was held all day from 9 until 5pm. A firefighter Newschannel 6 spoke with says all the support from the community makes their job much easier.

"We appreciated all their help and we thought a simple thank you just wasn't enough. So we wanted to get on board with these guys and show these departments around Wichita Falls how much we appreciated them.," said Firefighter Corky Scarbrough.

A volunteer firefighter we spoke with yesterday said their busy season doesn't even start until winter, so this year has been really tough on ever firefighters, physically and financially.
