The Rider and Old High rivalry added another chapter on the tennis courts.
Rider defeated WFHS 10-8 in a Regional Final at Weeks Park Tennis Center. With the win, Rider advances to the state championships at College Station on Friday and Saturday.
WFHS led 4-3 after doubles play, but the Rider boys caught fire, winning all six singles matches.
In girls singles play, Rider's Audrey Spencer topped WFHS's Maggie Ross to earn the 10th and clinching point.
Rider last made the state tournament in 2008, with WFHS making the trip the past two years.
