MSU Soccer: Both Teams Selected for NCAA Tournament

No. 4 Midwestern State qualified for its sixth consecutive postseason Monday night when the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Committed unveiled this season's championship field.
The Mustangs will face rival Incarnate Word Thursday night at Benson Stadium in San Antonio. The start time is to be determined.
Incarnate Word ended MSU's 36-match regular season winning streak by defeating the Mustangs 1-0 on Sep. 16 in San Antonio.
Midwestern avenged the result by claiming a 3-0 victory over the Cardinals on Oct. 21 in Wichita Falls.
The winner advances to face the winner of the Central Region title match between Fort Lewis (Colo.) (19-1) and Metro State (Colo.) (14-6-1) this Sunday at a site and time to be determined with preference going to the Central Region.
The victor of Sunday's match moves on to the national quarterfinal against the winner of the West Region tournament field which includes Seattle Pacific (13-3-2), Cal State-Dominguez Hills (12-5-2), Cal State-Los Angeles (14-1-5) and Chico State (Calif.) (13-4-3).
The NCAA Division II Championship is set for Dec. 1-3 in Pensacola, Fla.
The Mustangs are making their eighth NCAA tournament appearances which include five national quarterfinal appearances and Final Four showings in 2007 and 2010.

Women to Return to Abilene, Face St. Edward's

Lone Star Conference champion Midwestern State earned its second consecutive NCAA Division II Championship field berth after claiming the league's automatic bid.
The Mustangs take on St. Edward's (15-2-1) in the opening round as they will return to Abilene Christian's Wildcat Soccer Pitch - the same venue where MSU claimed its second LSC title with a 2-1 win over previously unbeaten ACU Sunday afternoon. The game time is to be determined.
With a win, Midwestern would get a fourth shot at Abilene Christian Sunday afternoon, this time for the right to move on to the regional final.
The Mustangs are making a second consecutive appearance in the NCAA II tournament. MSU dropped its opening round contest to Truman last season in Warrensburg, Mo.
Midwestern State (13-5-2) has won eight of its last 10 matches.
