Clay County Sheriff's Deputies have made an arrest in the shooting death of John Hamlin.

Hamlin's daughter, Jenna Cherish Dickerson, 26, was arrested Wednesday night and charged with murder for the shooting that occurred early Sunday morning.

Clay County officials say the call came in at 1:17 a.m. The caller reported that there had been gunfire at a home on FM 2393 and someone was in need of an ambulance.

"It was a disturbance that was going on, a pretty good altercation in which a gun was involved and went off and this man was killed," said Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons.

The Texas Department of Public Safety, Dean First Responders, and the Clay County Sheriff's Office all responded to the call.  Sheriff Lemons said once they made it to the home, officials found Hamlin dead with one gunshot to the chest, and they recovered a revolver at the scene.

Dickerson is currently be held in the Clay County Jail with a bond of $250,000.00
