MSU Football #1 in D2Football.com Poll

Midwestern State football is No. 1 for the first time in program history after taking over the top spot in the D2Football.com Poll released Tuesday morning.

The poll of unspecified media representatives from the NCAA Division II community is released weekly by D2Football.com, the respected national information source for NCAA II football.

Midwestern State closed out the first undefeated regular season in school history after improving to 10-0 with a 37-34 come-from-behind victory Saturday at Northeastern State.

The Mustangs received a first-round by into the NCAA Division II playoffs and will face the winner of one of this weekend's first-round matchups between Missouri Western and Northwest Missouri on Saturday, Nov. 26 at Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for noon.

MSU is one of nine teams from rugged Super Region Four in the rankings which includes No. 5 Abilene Christian (Texas), No. 6 Pittsburg State (Kan.), No. 7 Northwest Missouri, No. 14 Washburn (Kan.), No. 16 Humboldt State (Calif.), No. 17 Missouri Western, No. 21 West Texas A&M and No. 23 Central Missouri.
