Arrest Made in Clay County Shooting Investigation

Clay County Sheriff's Office has a suspect in custody they say is connected to a shooting in the county.

26 year old Jenna Dickerson is now behind bars in connection to the death of her father John Hamlin.

"We were able to convince her to come to the Sheriff's Office Wednesday and that's where we made the arrest and she was booked into the jail," says Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons.

Hamlin was found dead in his Northern Clay County home early Sunday morning.  An arrest warrant affidavit from the Sheriff's Office says Dickerson was found at the scene when officials responded.

"There was another witness at the residence at the time of the shooting," says Lemons.

After interviewing Dickerson and the witness Sheriff Lemons says their accounts did not match up.

"Concluding the investigation of the case, we were able to determine some inconsistencies in the persons statements on the night of the actual shooting, to the interview later on and statements made to other people," Lemons says.

The affidavit also states that during an interview, Dickerson told an investigator she fired a single shot with a revolver hitting her father in his chest.  According to officials, Dickerson and Hamlin had both been arrested for fighting with each other some years prior to the shooting.

Dickerson is being held in the Clay County Jail with a bond of $250,000.
