Sadness In Stillwater: Residents Mourning The Loss Of 4

People in Stillwater are reeling from sadness from the loss of four people who where killed in a fiery plane crash on Thursday.

Oklahoma State University has scheduled a public memorial service for the two women's basketball coaches that were killed in a small plane crash in Arkansas.

The university announced Friday night that the service is set for 1 p.m. Monday at Gallagher-Iba Arena, where the team plays its basketball games. The service will honor the memory of head coach Kurt Budke, assistant coach Miranda Serna, and OSU alumni and former Oklahoma State Senator Olin Branstetter, and his wife Paula, who were also killed in the Thursday crash.

The university says classes held between 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. Monday are canceled so students and faculty can attend.

The group was on a recruiting trip when the plane crashed.

OSU Athletics Vice President Mike Holder said in a news release the school is, "shocked by the terrible loss." He said Assistant Head Coach Jim Littell would assume duties as the interim coach for the Cowgirls.

The team has since canceled their game this weekend against UT Arlington. Grambling State and OSU counselors are offering assistance to the team and remaining staff members.

This crash comes a decade after ten men associated with the men's basketball program were killed in a Colorado plane crash in 2001.
