South Korea Parliament Ratifies US Trade Deal

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) - South Korea's ruling party has been able to push a free-trade deal with the United States through the country's parliament today by calling a surprise session aimed at catching opposition lawmakers off guard.

The trade deal was overwhelmingly approved.

The sudden takeover of the parliamentary floor by the ruling party members enraged opposition lawmakers. One of them doused rivals with tear gas during the angry confrontation.
