HS Basketball: #8 Dunkin Dogs Outlast WFHS

The #8 Burkburnett Bulldog basketball team rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Wichita Falls HS 86-80 Tuesday night at Coyote Fieldhouse.

Aaron Coker led the Bulldogs (3-0) with 21 points, while Blaine Curren added 19, Nico Lynott scored 12 and Mario Garcia had 11 in the win.

WFHS came out firing, leading 23-19 after one quarter and 39-36 a halftime behind a big effort from D.J. Jordan (23 pts) and Bubba Mathis (15).

Jordan threw down a big fast-break dunk in the second quarter to give WFHS a 35-34 lead, then hit a three-pointer as the second-quarter clock expired to break a 36-all tie.

But the Bulldogs outscored the Coyotes 50-41 in the second half for the win.

Both teams will compete in the 31st Annual Fantasy of Lights Tournament this weekend, in the Boys Division I bracket.
