New Texas DPS Regional Commander Chosen

A new Department of Public Safety Regional Commander has been chosen.

Texas DPS Director Steven C. McCraw announced the promotion of Randall Prince to Regional Commander for DPS Region 5, which is based in Lubbock and includes the Amarillo, Abilene, and Wichita Falls areas. 

The selection is effective December 1, 2011.  Prince most recently served as Texas Rangers Major in Region 5 for DPS.

Prince joined DPS after graduating from Southwest Texas State University.  He worked as a Trooper in Navasota beginning in 1989; promoted to a Motor Vehicle Theft Sergeant in Conroe in 1996; became a Sergeant with the Texas Rangers in Bay City and Tyler beginning in 1997 and was selected to become a Lieutenant with the Texas Rangers in Houston in 2002.
