Power Blackouts Predicted In Texas Future

A new federal report paints a bleak outlook for power reserves here in Texas.

The North American Electric Reliability Corporation, or NERC, has released their 10-year outlook and it warns the Electric Reliability Council of Texas may not be able to generate enough power to meet demand in 2013, which could lead to black outs.

Unlike the rest of the nation, the ERCOT power grid is isolated, meaning, in the event of a catastrophe, Texas could be cut off from the emergency power supply from neighboring states.

Today, ECROT is releasing its own 10-year forecast for power supply and needs.
