WFISD Officials Discussing State Lawsuit Over Education Cuts

The Wichita Falls Independent School District is discussing the lawsuit filed by more than 180 Texas school districts over education budget cuts.

WFISD Public Information Officer Renea Murphy says two major groups are forming to file legislation against the state.

Law firm Thompson and Horton presented information to the board Tuesday. The law firm says they have 53 districts that have joined their lawsuit representing 1.5 million students.

The Equity Center will meet with WFISD board on Monday night. Murphy says board members could take action Monday or table it until January.

Murphy says WFISD is in the bottom 10% of state funding.
