Texas Deputy On Admin Duty After Fatal Shooting

ELROY, Texas (AP) - Investigators say a Central Texas deputy has been placed on administrative duty after fatally shooting a man who raised a gun toward the officer.

Travis County sheriff's spokesman Roger Wade says the gunman was shot Sunday afternoon. His name was not immediately released.

Deputies had answered a call in Elroy about an armed man threatening to injure himself. Wade says the man had texted pictures of himself, holding a shotgun, to some family and friends.

The name of the deputy was not immediately released.

Elroy is a town of about 125, located 15 miles southeast of Austin.
