All-State Roundup: Volleyball, 1A, 2A Football

The Texas AP All-State football teams have been released for classes 1A and 2A.

Two Texoma players were named to the 1A First-Team defense.

Blanford Paul of the Munday Moguls and Dylan Stallcup of the Windthorst Trojans were both named to the first team on the defensive line.

Paul recorded 70 tackles, 24 of them for a loss, eleven sacks and two fumble recoveries in the regular season, while Stallcup was credited with 90 tackles, nine of them for loss, five sacks and six pass breakups.

Another Trojan and Mogul were on the second team, with Windthorst's Tyler Berardi at linebacker and Munday's Lee White on the offensive line.

Thirteen Texoma players received honorable mentions:

Windthorst: OL Derek Mankins, K Jordy Cruz, LB Chase Schreiber, LB Braydon Ingram
Munday: OL Logan Groves, QB Dee Paul, LB A.J. Serrato
Electra: OL Rodey Shafer, LB Tyler Coats, LB Blaze Lynn
Seymour: OL Blake Atnip
Quanah: LB Brandon Heard
Petrolia: LB Tyler Sullivan

Also, Munday's opponent in Thursday's state title game received several honors, mainly Offensive Player of the Year, which went to quarterback Reginald Davis.

He also joined lineman LaDarren Cooks on the AP First Team Offense, while linebackers Jose Campos and DeAaron Roland were honorable mentions. Cooks also received an honorable mention on the defensive line.

Two Eagles Named to All-2A Team

In 2A, a pair of Holliday Eagles were named to the Defensive Second Team.

Ryan Todd was honored on the defensive line, while Austin Twilligear was on the team at linebacker.

Holliday reached the State Quarterfinals with a record of 10-3, falling to state finalist Cisco.

TGCA All-State Volleyball Teams

Nine Texoma volleyball players were also recently named to the Texas Girls' Coaches Association all-state teams.

In Class A, Lexi Koetter and Leslie Schroeder of Windthorst joined Makebra Collier and Kristen Kuehler of Munday on the all-state team.

Also four were honored from Class 2A, including two from the state-finalist Nocona Lady Indians.

Nocona's Haylee Diehl and Dayna Young joined Holliday's Morgan Lewis and Brittany Thompson.

Lewis made the All-State team despite playing the entire season on two injured knees, which needed surgery immediately after the season ended.

In Class 3A, Graham's Kaitlin Kramer was honored.

    A six-run seventh inning lifted No. 12 West Texas A&M to a series sweep of Midwestern State Sunday afternoon at Schaeffer Park with the Lady Buffs scoring the winning run on a throwing error in the infield to rally from a five-run deficit in the final frame for a 9-8 victory.
