All-State Football Selections in 3A, 4A

Six Texoma football players were honored by the Texas Associate Press Sports Editors Wednesday as honorable mention all-state.

In Class 4A, a pair of Rider Raiders made the list, which honors regular-season achievement.

Junior quarterback J.T. Barrett gained over 2,000 total yards and recorded 15 touchdowns as a dual-threat for the Raiders, while senior defensive lineman Dylan McDorman led the team in tackles for loss as well as blocked kicks and punts.

In Class 3A, three Burkburnett Bulldogs and one Bowie Jackrabbit were honored.

Senior running back Devin Chaffin, senior wide receiver Blaine Curren and junior offensive lineman Ricky Clark were the Bulldogs honored.

They were joined by Bowie senior defensive lineman Madison Firmin, who led the Texoma area with 14 sacks.

Critics say the NFL's decision to force players to stand during the national anthem if on the field say the policy prioritizes the league's mainstream appeal over athletes.
