Sea Of Mourners Gather In North Korean Capital

PYONGYANG, North Korea (AP) - Tens of thousands of mourners have packed the main square in central Pyongyang to pay their respects to late leader Kim Jong Il.

A dusting of snow covered well-dressed women as they held their faces today and filed past a huge portrait of a smiling Kim Jong Il. State media announced two days ago that the 69-year-old Kim died Saturday.

The mass crowd of mourners covered Kim Il Sung Square in front of the Grand People's Study House as they lined up to leave white flowers at Kim's portrait.
