MIDLAND, Texas (AP) - A member of the U.S. military allegedly found with explosives in his airport luggage on New Year's Eve is expected to make his first court appearance.
Trey Scott Atwater was expected to be arraigned Tuesday in federal court. Authorities say the 30-year-old tried going through a security checkpoint at Midland International Airport in Texas with explosives in military-grade wrapping.
Atwater has been charged with trying to bring explosives onto an airplane. Relatives have not spoken out since his arrest Saturday or returned multiple phone messages for comment.
