MSU Men Move Up to #16 in Poll

Midwestern State moved ahead three spots to No. 16 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches' Division II Poll as released Tuesday afternoon.

The Mustangs improved the school's third best start to a season to 11-0 with a win over Oklahoma Wesleyan last week, and remain one of eight teams from South Central Region to receive mention in the poll.

Fort Hays State (9-1) and Tarleton State (10-1) moved ahead one spot at Nos. 8 and 9 respectively, while Missouri Southern (11-2) dropped eight places to No. 14.

Arkansas Tech (8-2) fell five spots to No. 22 after losing Division I Texas A&M over the Christmas break.

Southwestern Oklahoma State, Northwest Missouri and West Texas A&M are receiving votes.

Midwestern State is one of eight remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division II, joining No. 1 Metropolitan State (12-0), No. 2 Southern Indiana (10-0), No. 3 Lincoln Memorial (12-0), No. 4 Kentucky Wesleyan (10-0), No. 6 Cal Poly Pomona (8-0), No. 11 Northern Kentucky (10-0) and No. 19 Minnesota State-Moorhead (9-0).

The Mustangs return to action Thursday night against Central Oklahoma at Hamilton Fieldhouse in Edmond. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m.
