WF Police Department Receiving Two Armored Vehicles

The Wichita Falls city council approved funds to be used for the police department.

Councilors approved more than $77,000 for parts and repairs and to transport two armored vehicles to Wichita Falls that have been transferred from the U.S. Army.

These vehicles would be used to transport officers into hostile scenes where the suspects are armed, for downed officer rescues and as a rescue vehicle in flooding or snow.

The program is part of the Texas program to reutilize military equipment.

The money is coming from the seized funds account.
