Capital Murder Charge For Devol Man in Death of Cotton Co. Woman January 19, 2012 at 10:49 PM CST - Updated June 26 at 8:18 AM UPDATE: David Daniel has been charged with capital murder in the death of Cotton County, OK resident Teresa Speir. The 52-year-old Speir was found dead last week about 100 yards from Daniel's property near Devol, OK. She had been missing since Jan. 8. If convicted, Daniel faces the death penalty or life in prison without parole. He is being held on $5 million bond. The Cotton County Sheriff's Office says Teresa Speir has been found dead near Devol. Her body was found around 3:30 p.m. by sheriff's deputies, 100 yards west of David Daniel's property in heavy brush. Speir's body showed signs of blunt force trauma to the head. The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is treating the case as a homicide. The state medical examiner will determine the cause of death. According to the Cotton County Sheriff's Office, a blood sample found on one of his coats tested positive for Speir's DNA Daniels' property is located two miles south of Devol on county road 2460. He was arrested Thursday morning for a warrant out of Tillman County A benefit fund has been set up in Teresa Speir's name. Donations can be made at First Bank (any location).
