Cheating: 60 Houston-Area Students Disciplined

HOUSTON (AP) - Educators say 60 students at a Houston-area school have been disciplined for apparent text message-related cheating on a December test.

Officials on Thursday announced those Clear Lake High School students will get an English exam score of zero calculated into their final grade. The test counts for about 20 percent.

Spokeswoman Elaina Polsen says a student apparently texted some answers. Teachers became suspicious of the multiple-question test when unusual answer patterns turned up. The 60 students who were disciplined took the test on the second day.

Polsen says more students could face discipline. Testing procedures are being reviewed.

All exam results have been thrown out. Other students can retake the final, or skip it and calculate their semester grade by taking the average of the first two nine-week marking periods.
