Wildcats Beat Corpus Christi 4-2

Tanner Fahlstedt had a goal and an assist and Brennan Parker had three assists to help the Wichita Falls Wildcats defeat Corpus Christi 4-2 Friday night in front of 6,169 at the Kay Yeager Coliseum.

Fahlstedt set up Matt Purmal while falling to his knees for the first Wildcats goal at 11:06 of the first period.

Renato Engler made it 2-0 with 2:13 left in the frame, on assists from Sergei Soloviev and Parker.

Chris Taff cut the deficit in half for the Ice Rays at 12:24 of the second period, but Fahlstedt and Zach Pochiro scored 2:17 apart late in the period to push the lead to 4-1 through two periods.

Michael Dery scored with 1:13 remaining for the final margin.

The two teams will meet again Saturday night at 7:05 at the KYC, then they will face off for two more games next weekend in Corpus Christi.

"Buckets" Blake of the Harlem Globetrotters made an appearance, meeting with the MSU Women's basketball team late in the first period.
