Wichita Falls Man Honored For Helping In Joplin Recovery

AmeriCorps services was recognized January 31st, by the Missouri House of Representatives. AmeriCorps members include Chad Angell of Wichita Falls.

He was recognized for his role in the recovery efforts following the devastating tornado that struck Joplin on May 22, 2011.

Chad was deployed to Joplin on May 22, as the transportation dispatcher for volunteers and is now the leading AmeriCorps St. Louis Member heading the AmeriCorps St. Louis Response in Joplin.

He is now serving his second year as an AmeriCorps St. Louis Member and has been essential in the leadership and coordination of several response efforts in Missouri. Angell attended the University of North Texas for Emergency Administration and Planning.

The Joplin tornado was the nation's deadliest in more than sixty years, killing 161 residents and destroying more than 7,000 homes, churches, schools and businesses.
