Monica's Murder: Police Have A Person of Interest

Wichita Falls police said they have a person of interest in the investigation of the death of a Wichita Falls woman.

Police are questioning Jerry Garza, 40. He is charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault for a fight in November. Garza is the ex-boyfriend of Monica Partida, 32. In the arrest affidavit, Monica is listed as one of the witnesses to the assault.

The affidavit states Monica broke up with Garza in November. It also states Garza sent Monica text messages that said if she danced with anyone at the club, there would be trouble.

Police said around 11:00 a.m., February 9, they were called to a house at the corner of Ave. C and Britain St. for a check welfare. Police said Monica was found inside the house.

Investigators called for a search warrant, and then began searching for answers. WFPD Investigation Division Techs arrived and started combing the crime scene. Much of their attention was centered around a broken window on the north side of the home.

Family members of the deceased woman arrived from out of town about 5:30 p.m. They were seen hugging and crying in front of the home. One woman was overwhelmed and taken away by ambulance.

Police said Monica, "Died by violent homicidal means." They also said they are, "following strong leads."

Newschannel 6 is continuing to closely follow this investigation.
