Storm Spotting 101

The Texoma weather is always changing. It can be nice one day, and the next there is a severe thunderstorm watch.

Severe weather is always a top concern in Texoma. The National Weather Service is helping resident stay safe by teaching a new crop of storm spotters. The NWS held a training session at Midwestern State University Saturday. It lasted nearly three hours, and what people learned could be life-saving.
"Storm spotters play an important role in helping the weather service and media know what's going on with the storms here in Texoma," said Rick Smith with the National Weather Service. "It's not enough to have doppler radar looking at the storms, we really have to have eyes and ears out here.

Newschannel 6 is also hitting the road to teach Texomans more about severe weather. Our 3rd annual Skywarn 6 Weather Road Show is making stops all across the area. Click here to see the full list of towns.
