Occupy Houston Protesters Leave Tranquility Park

HOUSTON (AP) - The Occupy Houston protest at a city park has ended peacefully as officials clean up the public site to prepare for spring festivals.

Authorities say no arrests were immediately reported as the last handful of demonstrators, including those camping, left the downtown Houston park Monday night.

City officials estimate that repairs and cleaning, following the four-month demonstration, will cost about $13,000.

Mayor Annise Parker had praised for the peaceful demonstration against economic equality, but says Occupy Houston protesters will not be allowed to move to another city park.
Organizer Joe Roche says Occupy Houston will survive.
