Wichita Falls Travel Center In The Works

Wichita Falls city officials are seeking proposals for a construction manager for the Wichita Falls Downtown Travel Center. The center will be located in the 300 block of Scott Ave.

The travel center will serve the City's FallsRide bus system, as well as Greyhound, Jefferson Lines and ADA/Elderly 5310 regional rural transportation providers.

The city is in the early phases of the design process. The center will include parking and passenger stops for over-the-road and City buses. The center will also have a covered area to protect passengers from the elements.

It will also include a ticket and lobby area and restroom facilities. There will be a drivers' lounge, warehouse for freight storage, and a conference room.

The travel center will be at least 5,000 - 6,000 square feet, and the lot will be constructed to handle two over-the-road buses and up to eight City buses. Construction is expected to begin in the fall of 2012.
