Fire At Rhodia Plant In Vernon

An evening fire has plant workers in Vernon cleaning up Thursday morning.

It started around 8:30 Wednesday night at the Rhodia Plant.
Vernon firefighters say it was an insulation fire and was contained to one building.

Firefighters say the building is being updated and crews were using a cutting torch. They believe sparks or hot metal got in the wall and set the insulation on fire.

Three engines, 1 ladder truck, 1 rescue truck, 2 ambulances and 25 firefighters were on scene. There were no injuries and the fire was out by 11:30.

Firefighters say the building is made out of sheet metal that they had to take off to get to the fire which is why it took them so long to fight the fire.
