The Notre Dame softball team got off to a very late start to the season, with injuries and rainouts pushing their season opener back to this past Tuesday's 13-1 win at Sherman Texoma Christian.
The #7 Lady Knights finally played their home opener Thursday afternoon at Notre Dame Softball Field against #5 Watauga Harvest Christian.
The game started out as a pitchers' duel, as it was scoreless through three and a half innings.
Hayli Otto kept it that way, striking out ten Lady Saint batters.
In the bottom of the fourth, Notre Dame got on the board when Julie Brady lifted a fly ball behind first that fell just in fair territory, then stole second base.
Kristin Mounsey beat out an infield hit to second, and Brady rounded third without stopping to score the game's first run.
Mounsey finished 2/3, while Jennifer Ozier recorded a double and Rebecca Shine tripled to lead the Lady Knights (2-0) at the plate.
