Zach Stewart Makes White Sox

Former Holliday Eagle Zach Stewart will start opening day 2012 in a Chicago White Sox uniform.

The 25-year-old right-hander is one of seven relievers on the 25-man active roster. Stewart is 2-0 with a 3.67 ERA and nine strikeouts in spring training.

Stewart's most memorable moment of 2011 came on September 5 against the Minnesota Twins. He retired the first 21 batters of the game, pitching seven perfect innings, on the way to a one-hit shutout performance.

Overall, Stewart is 2-6 with a 5.88 ERA in 13 games of action in the majors. He's struck out 45, spending time with the White Sox and Toronto Blue Jays last season.

Chicago will face the Rangers to open Texas's home schedule April 6-8.
